Enhancing Women's Mental Health

Psychotherapy for Women was created specifically for women like you who want to start feeling happier, healthier, and less alone. As women, we face a unique set of challenges and life decisions that can at any time negatively impact mental health and decrease feelings of overall happiness. Whether you are struggling with symptoms of anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, or substance use, I am trained to help you address these concerns and start feeling a sense of healing.

Feeling your best is important. There are many ways that we can work together to address your concerns and improve your mental well-being. Working to enhance your mental health could look like: learning how to identify and better meet your needs, improving communication in relationships, navigating feelings of grief and loss, improving self-confidence, gaining support during tough life transitions, and starting to set healthy boundaries.

I believe that having a woman therapist in your corner who understands you and the unique set of challenges you as a woman face really makes all the difference. It is my goal as your therapist to help enhance your mental health and sense of overall well being, because you deserve to feel better. From our very first interaction, I approach therapy by helping you create a unique plan of care by tailoring your therapy experience to meet your specific wants and needs. I truly believe that with the right therapist in your corner and tools in your toolkit, you can improve your mental health and feel a sense of healing for many years to come.

Services

Individual, one-on-one, therapy gives you the benefit of having your sessions tailored to meet your specific needs and areas of concern. This is a great treatment option if you are struggling individually to navigate a variety of issues or symptoms and need one on one care. Since therapy is unique to everyone, there is no time frame of when individual therapy will be completed and can be short term or more long-term ongoing care if desired.

When embarking on a new therapy experience, I believe it’s important to understand how that treatment will be conducted. I approach therapy using a combination of evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Integrative Change Therapy (ICT), and Solution Focused Brief Therapy. I also incorporate techniques to assist with increasing mindfulness practices, improving use of self-compassion, gaining communication skills, and building healthier relationships.

Navigating pregnancy, infertility, infant loss, and postpartum life can feel isolating. These unique challenges only faced by women can create changes in physical, mental, and emotional health. This phase of life can also increase symptoms of anxiety and depression that make these challenges that much difficult to manage.

If you are in this phase of life and finding it challenging to navigate and need more support, therapy can be a great place to start. During therapy, I will help you gain the tools to help you better navigate the unknown, cope with stressors, work through traumatic experiences, and get back to feeling more like yourself again.

Individual Counseling For Relationship Problems

Many women find themselves struggling to navigate one or more relationships in their life. Whether this is a member of your family, a current or previous partner/spouse, a child/children, or friend, all relationships can have problems. If you are finding one or more relationships in your life to be stressful, unfulfilling, challenging to navigate, or unsafe, I can help.

There are many ways that relationships can look and therefore many different problems and challenging moments that can arise. Gaining support through therapy can help you learn how to identify and set boundaries, explore and improve communication skills, process and heal from traumatic experiences, work through discomfort and challenging situations, and improve the relationships in your life.

For individuals looking for additional professional support, I also provide individual consultation and clinical supervision. For individuals looking to become Licensed Clinical Social Workers in the state of Virginia, I am a board approved supervisor and have successfully helped clinicians become licensed practicing therapists. Supervision is an important part of clinical work and it is my mission to help you become a more confident and competent clinician.
